CEO aims for 5% market share of a $16.4 billion Industry by 2020

Business, Daily Updates, Influencers, Marketing, News

Danny Simmonds believes setting targets high is the only way to grow, with confidence.

Founder & CEO of the latest marketing software platform buddy, believes setting the ‘bar’ high is the only way to grow not only your business, but also yourself.

“Before i moved from the UK to Australia with just a backpack and myself when i was 22, I had already set my vision to become the very best person I can be”. “This was no way easy, as I only had $500 in my back pocket and a one way ticket i just used up.”

Since then almost a decade ago Danny Simmonds has faced many challenges, from learning how to face tough times without family and friends, how to survive one day to the next and even being homeless. Each challenge put forward, Danny not only managed to overcome them, but to squash them so they never happen again. Not to mention building a business from the back of a camper van for many months, now his company Buddy & Co.

Prior to the launch of the latest eatery discovery app Buddy , Danny has received endless enquiries from restaurants and from large companies not only in Australia but also Miami, New York and Italy. “All of the enquires have been fantastic”, he said “knowing some large restaurant groups from around the world are interested in buddy gives us great confidence on our growth plan”.

Danny Simmonds aims to consume a piece the market for ‘restaurant advertising and marketing’ in Australia by the end of 2020, as he said “bringing something completely new to the industry instantly puts you centre stage, as appose to another ‘agency’, or ‘another magazine’ to advertise in, with the introduction to our buddy beacon™

Buddy will be first to market with Beacon technology in Australia, and will be working closely with a number of marketing agencies providing another tool for them to use, which aims to takeover at least 5% of the advertising market for restaurants by 2020, “This might sounds outrageously confident, but having seen the growth of the food and beverage industry and knowing $2.6b last year was spent on ‘original methods’ breaths nothing but confidence in our company“.

‘original methods’ | buddy.world

Hitting your targets

For Danny & Co to hit the target of 5% in two years, industry professionals are claiming it will be ‘extremely difficult’ to achieve. But Danny has other opinions, saying “having learned from extensive research, un measurable amounts of interest and also seeing where the market is heading thanks to tech, I cannot see how it is not possible for us to achieve.” He goes on to say “After three years we will need to have our 5% in order to grow and look into expanding into the European market, which will involve setting up another office in the UK”. “So it is a target I am absolutly set on hitting, but first let’s just begin”

Hospitality Industry Backs New Restaurant App

Daily Updates, Influencers, Local Knowledge, Marketing, News

The Hospitality Industry in Australia is raving about the new app they call their own.

Its been years in the making, but its finally nearly here. The Hospitality Industry in Australia can stop holding its breath with online review apps and websites, having felt like they have been held by strings for years and being completely controlled by the internet, the time has come that they can have an app of their own.

A former restaurateur was sick and tired of being controlled by digital hero’s behind reviews and also not having the ability to showcase his restaurant to its full potential with the platforms available today.

CEO of Buddy Danny Simmonds & Rio Capurso of Locale | Noosa Heads, Queensland

Times are changing.

Buddy is paving the way for a new digital era for the industry, it has been built by the best software developers in the country and has been brainstormed by many successful restaurateurs across Australia over the last eighteen months. With phenomenal support and with huge backing by some of the biggest restaurants across Australia, its no surprise the startup company can boast a staggering two thousand business registrations so far. It is safe to say that this is an app every business owner will be joining over time, not to mention its free.

Rio Capurso is one of Australia’s most successful restaurateurs, from humble beginnings in Italy, Rio has owned successful restaurants from London, Greece and now Australia with a skill of conquering every local market he has founded his restaurants in.

Due to Rio having been in the Industry since the early 80’s, he has seen many things in his career spanning nearly thirty years. Rio believes buddy has been a long time coming, with social media dominating and bookings for his restaurant coming through his online booking system, he knows if your business is not on mobile devices you simply cannot grow your business.

“buddy puts you right there, effortlessly” He said, After Danny Simmonds was discussing the technology available through the buddy app, Rio was blown away by what the buddy app can do, especially the introduction of the buddy Beacon™

buddy Beacon™

The buddy Beacon™ is new technology that allows a low power bluetooth in-app Notification to be sent directly to buddy users from 100 metres to the centimetre of the restaurant/beacon, this allows tourists or even locals to be notified of that particular restaurants happy hours, lunch or dinner specials, the top five places to go for coffee when entering a street, or even live events happening that weekend at different bars within their vicinity. Rio Capurso was stunned by the opportunity the buddy app provides to really showcase a restaurant or eatery. The app is designed for all types of vendors from higher end restaurants, deli’s, cafe’s, bars, coffee shops, roasters, brewery’s, and even street carts and market stools.

Users to indulge

The user experience for the buddy app is so seamless to use and packed with valuable information, the slick modern design is focused on impact imagery for the user, to really capture what the restaurant is all about.

With important information such as opening times, happy hour times, location map and even the ability to view special dishes with image carousel menu’s! The app also allows users to book tables in literally four clicks! time, date, how many people and book!

Community

Each individual restaurant on the app gives the ability for users to ‘follow’ the restaurant, what this does in return gives the user (us) exclusive in-app notification of insider information of local deals, updates on events, new menu launches, lunch and dinner specials and even loyalty exclusive discounts to followers only. Each eatery anywhere in the world has its very own community, buddy allows businesses to harness this into a new digital world for customers to really know what’s happening before anybody else does!

“Buddy is a Fantastic weapon

for the industry and the user”

– Rio Capurso

Locale becomes Industry Influencer on buddy.

Daily Updates, Influencers, News, Travel

Influencers of the restaurant industry are hard to find, but Noosa has one of its own.

Prior to the launch of our restaurant finder app, we are head hunting Industry leaders across Australia who stand head and shoulders above the rest. The chosen restaurant for Noosa is the wonderful Modern Italian Locale.

With its wonderful ambience thanks to the chic first class decor, matched with a beautiful solid vintage wooden bar for lunch hangs, an outrageous selection of Italian wines each single handedly picked by owner operator Rio Capurso, its and experience you simply do not expect and can not imagine when coming straight off the beach.

The Family

The team behind it all are not an ordinary team, they work hard to make sure you receive the very best service possible regardless of how busy it can be.

Drawing Heavily on Italian tradition, Locale Noosa offers a seasonally changing menu using the best local produce and premium imported ingredients. Surrounded by lush gardens, Locale sits in a protected corner of the famous hastings Street just a few steps from the golden sands of Noosa Main Beach. The menu features handmade pasta, stone fired pizzas, traditional cicchetti and an impressive selection of wines, beers and authentic cocktails. Dining at Locale is not just a normal dining experience to savour, but an experience you just have to keep living.

 Chefs Tips.

“One of my favourite Dishes at the moment is out pasta special, the Chitarra Vongole”. “This dish features beautiful hand cut pasta which looks like square cut spaghetti”. “The Chitarra Vongole has inspired me to share a tip on how to cook pasta to perfection”. “The golden rule to cooking pasta perfectly is to always use lots of boiling salted water (the more water the better!) as it lets the pasta cook freely”. “Remember to add enough salt so that you can taste it and cook it until is is ‘al dente’ which means ‘to the tooth’, you want it to have a firm texture so the pasta has strength.”

5 best coffee spots in Noosa only the locals go.

Daily Updates, Influencers, Local Knowledge, News

Coffee Spots In Noosa only the locals go.

Coffee is everything right? We all know exactly where we will be heading for a coffee before we jump in the shower in the morning, but here is buddy’s tips to maybe break the norm and have a cuppa somewhere else this week!

5# Padre Coffee Noosa

Padre Coffee has its very own distinctive taste, Padre is somewhat the new kids on the block having been around for only a year or so. But here at buddy we believe they deserve a spot in the top 5 as they are up there with making whatever you order with care, precision and with excellent taste.

4# Waterline Espresso

Waterline Espresso is by far the best spot to go when wanting to walk the beautiful Noosa River. With Mike and Yvonne making sure they are up and about from 5am so the locals get there perfectly made Toby Estate coffee, they have created arguably the ‘locals favourite’ and a MUST DO when in Noosaville.

3# Hard Coffee

Hard Coffee which is located in the food court on Hastings Street is certainly up there with the locals, the coffee is that good they literally dedicate a phone line and a young ‘run around’ delivering perfectly made to order Campos Coffee to offices, resorts and shops!

I Personally Have been many times and has become a day to day catchup with nearly half of Noosa locals between 7am to 3pm, so if you are hung over from the night before or just cannot be arsed to see anyone make sure you go with the cap and sunnys!

2# Little Cove Coffee

Little Cove Coffee is a special little shop, with beans from all over the world to choose from you can never get bored of choice if you are the adventurous type. Also when it comes to knowing their customers take a bow, they look after their regulars that much almost every cyclist on the sunshine coast stops by everyday wearing the lycra with “Little Cove Coffee” Plastered all over them supporting what they love. Little Cove Coffee is packed everyday from open until close and is by far one of the best hangouts for everyone to enjoy.

1# Costa Noosa Espresso

Costa Noosa Espresso 1#

Costa Noosa has been named buddy’s No.1 as here at buddy we believe Costa Noosa Espresso has the complete package.

With such an amazing customer service, quality and effort this team puts into its work every single day, no wonder almost the entire coast makes an extra effort to drive and fight for a park to get that little cup of coffee to help kickstart the day.

With the Coffee Roaster machine right in the middle of the shop for all to see, operated by Gavin and Brett all day everyday is one of the key features why everybody has to go to Costa Noosa. When Gavin (the owner) is not roasting pulling out each bean at a time to make sure his roast is perfect, he is usually mingling with his customers and now friends, and from time to time Gavin is seen giving their kids a free ‘throw in the air’ but then having them following him demanding “again again’!

The Girls on the floor seem to be going 110k per hour but are always friendly enough to ask how you are or share a passing laugh.

Lets not even get started on all the home made gourmet cakes on offer!!!

If you have not been to any of these coffee spots we suggest giving them all a good go!

All Off these Coffee shops will be available to ‘follow’ on the soon to Launch Buddy App for Free Download on iOS & Android.

Noosa’s Supporter of Local Produce, Business and Community.

Daily Updates, Healthy, Influencers, Local Knowledge, News

Padstows Noosa has to be one of the front runners of ‘how’ a local restaurant should operate, everything they do has a touch of class about it.

When Padstows burst onto the Noosa scene a few years ago, they put a huge stamp on what the Noosa junction should become, and they have done just that.

Taking up nearly the entire corner of the Junction, with a huge bar clear to see for all, great furniture, decor, food, cocktails, ambiance and service, the Padstow crew really made a noise showing the rest of the the town how it should be done.

The restaurant is completely well thought out as they have provided wheelchair access, free wifi and even USB ports so you can charge your devices if you decide to hang out at padstows with your laptop catching up on some emails.

Local Produce

Padstows only uses the freshest produce the Sunshine Coast has to offer, with nothing spanning further that 20k from paddock to plate, the crew really have taken care in supporting local farmers, business and customers in making sure everything they provide is at the upmost best they can possibly offer.

They also can boast that their wine selection is to die for, selection of craft beers is enough to make you want to try them all and to top it all off they even have happy hours, lunch specials, live music and Sunday sessions!

Noosa has plenty of fantastic restaurants, bars, cafes and coffee shops but Padstows has Won the ‘Influencer’ status and will be given its very own business profile on our Restaurant app when launched. Also their very own Portfolio showcasing everything they do in our archives and our Blog.

Congratulations Padstows Noosa, Sunshine Coast.

App coming this Spring.

A Journey Through Old-World Vietnam in Sydney

Influencers, Local Knowledge, News, Survey's

Old-World Vietnam in Sydney

Where to find some the cities old-school Vietnamese restaurants.

These aren’t the newest, smartest, most experimental or cutting-edge Vietnamese restaurants in Sydney. But they represent different parts of Vietnam and mean a lot to their community. The following places, covered in Broadsheet’s Local Knowledge series, are worth trying this weekend.

Bau Truong
Michael Thai and his family have run Bau Truong since 1995. Today, it is one of Cabramatta’s most popular Vietnamese restaurants, serving a range of home-style dishes that you won’t be able to find elsewhere. The menu is inspired by the memories of Thai’s mum, Bac Cang Nghieu, particularly those times at the old Saigon markets. During Vietnamese New Year (Tết), you’ll see thịt kho tàu, a pork belly dish which is prepared for two days. It’s a mandatory experience.

VN Street Foods
Many Vietnamese migrants arrived in Sydney from the south, so the Vietnamese street-food scene is largely influenced by southern-style food. VN Street Foods is an exception. The owner, Thang Nyugen, was born in Hanoi and offers a menu focusing on the north. There’s shiitake mushroom and chicken, as well as bento boxes, inspired by traditional Vietnamese home-style dinners with meats, vegetables, salads, soups and rice. More adventurous customers are invited to try bún đậu mắm tôm, a deep-fried bean curd dipped in a pungent, thick, fermented-shrimp-paste soup.

Bò 7 Món Thanh Tâm
Bò 7 Món Thanh Tâm is a Market City Food Court stall run by Phuoc Hoang, who has served traditional Vietnamese food in Sydney since the ’80s. Beginning in Surry Hills in 1985, Hoang introduced traditional Saigon dishes to the neighbourhood. After that he moved to Bankstown with his chargrilled meats and bò tái chanh, a Vietnamese raw-beef salad.

Vinata’s Hot Bread
For the best bánh mì in Sydney, Vinata’s Hot Bread is pretty close. The store, which opened in 1988, has built a solid reputation on its fantastic pork roll, which holds all the classic ingredients – homemade chicken liver paté, mayonnaise, pickled carrots, crispy shallots, cucumber, coriander and barbeque pork – for just $4.50. Vinata’s owner, Mimi Nguyen-Vu, is over 60 years old and is still the driving force behind everything the store produces. It’s her pride and joy.

1989 Kitchen and Arcade is a blast from the past.

Daily Updates, Influencers, News

1989 Kitchen and Arcade

Two guys are sitting down with coffees and a burger between them. One gets up and asks, “Street Fighter?” Less than a minute later, a 16-bit synth track and the furious tap of plastic buttons drown out their voices. Welcome to 1989 Kitchen and Arcade.

Owner Ben Campbell wanted to honour “the golden age” of arcade gaming. You’ll see this in the kind of game titles and platforms available. Along with the rotating $1 per play, ’80s and early ’90s arcades (Street Fighter 2, rightly, will never rotate out), there’s a free N64 at the counter and a handful of board games. One wall is covered in retro movie posters, another in comic strips and the rest dotted with vintage posters and prints.

The cafe is far more modern, serving beers and a quartet of burgers including an American-style cheeseburger with garlic aioli, and a more innovative sweet potato, haloumi and pineapple creation. There’s a healthier tahini-dressed brown rice or quinoa Buddha Bowl with cucumber, mushroom, sweet potato, crunchy chickpeas and kidney beans; and small selection of homemade cakes.

At night there’s more of a bar vibe, with wine, classic cocktails and 20plus beers available.
